Injured captain Francesc Fabregas has said that he's forgiven Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso over the tackle that has ruled him out for four months.
But the Spaniard has forgiven Alonso, saying that it's one of those things that happen in football.
Fabregas was injured in a 50-50 collision with Alonso.
He said: "Since the Liverpool game, Xabi Alonso has called me every day.
"He is very worried but I told him that he had nothing to do with it – he just tried to win the ball, the same as me, and these things happen as I say.
"As a footballer who is lucky to be able to play and enjoy what I do every week, you always take the risk that injuries can occur.
"When the tackle came in last Sunday I felt pain in my knee and when, as soon as I started walking, I couldn't put my foot on the ground so I knew it was not good.
"I was wishing and praying that nothing was broken but unfortunately it was. This is football though, worse things can take place in life and sometimes in your career these things will happen so this is my turn.
"I've been very healthy in the last five years, always being able to give 100 per cent in every game for Arsenal - I've missed very few games in that time so I have to be happy for everything and also not forget that this injury could have been a bit worse, so I have to feel fortunate for that as well."

n# 2 i think u ar so dull that u fail to understand how Arsenal players play. When they play not to hurt anyone, do u expect them to be hurt by some ugly players like yo team has?

Well,Fabregas didnt feel the accidental pain alone but he had an after thought of the reality that he would not participate throughout the season, but later thought of the fact that life is just like a thin line,it could cut anytime so for the mere fact that it didnt lead to worse case,he had to let the painful situation roll off his mind.
Anyway theres nothing to forgive cos it wasnt intentional,it was just one of those things in football.Fabregas, just take it as a rest moment for u.great guy!

That tackle was perfectly legal, but if you think about it why would Alonso try to blast the ball in that direction? What is his intention? He's not going to shoot the ball or make cross for sure. He's not trying to drib the ball either. As if he was just want to blast the ball along with Fabregas's foot.

The headline says that he forgave Alonso, read the actual quotes, he didn't forgive him, he clearly states that there is nothing to forgive and that in football these things happen.

To all those questioning fabregas' arrogance, not once in any of the quotes has he used the word 'forgiven'!

I don't actually think he said I forgive him but just announced that he has no hard feelings over the tackle. Maybe its just the interpretation?

He didn't literally say that he forgave him , it's just that Alonso feels guilty for what happened to Cesc and Cesc just told him not to worry about it and it was an accident. That's just it. He's not God and he didn't mean that. Bad Title.

You only need to forgive someone if they have done something wrong Cesc. So far as I recall it was a perfectly legal 50-50 tackle. In fact in most football quarters (Adams. Bold. Keown. Hansen etc), it would be construde as a perfect tackle.....So what's to forgive?

Very big of Fabregas. Considering Alonso was simply stronger in the tackle and it was simply that angle at which he went into the tackle that caused the damage. I imagine Alonso as a perfectly clear conscience over the incident. I read that he did indeed apologise. That probably says more about the gentleman that he is!
