Wenger praises professionalism

Manager Arsène Wenger has praised the professionalism shown by his Arsenal side in defeating Championship-side Plymouth Argyle 3-1 in the FA Cup today.

The Gunners went behind to a first half goal but maintained their composure to score two more via stand-in captain Robin van Persie, with Plymouth scoring an own-goal on their side.

But Wenger was most impressed with the organisation from Plymouth, who made it difficult for his side for much of the match.

Wenger said: "We did the job in a serious way and had we not been focused and completely up for it, we would not have gone through today.

"I give credit to my team for doing the job seriously, and also to Plymouth who had a great game as well.

"I was surprised how well they were organised and how strong they were in every challenge. They did not die physically and were always dangerous on set plays.

"The gap between the Championship and the Premiership has been reduced and looking at the FA Cup results today, you could see that."

Arsenal didn't go behind. They scored two, then Plymouth scored, then we got a third.

The Gunners did not go behind to a first half goal. RVP scored the first goal of the match in the second half. Then Bendtner scored (or Gray scored an own goal), then Plymouth pulled one back and then RVP scored again.
