Vela: I will keep pushing for my first team place

By Jonathan Chong on Monday, January 5, 2009

Mexican starlet Carlos Vela says that he will keep on pushing to establish himself in the first team, and has been encouraged by recent comments from manager Arsène Wenger.

Vela has enjoyed successful loan spells with Celta Vigo and Osasuna and believes the experience of playing in La Liga has made him a stronger player.

Vela said: "Of course it's very important that the manager says these things - it gives you confidence.

"But I'm still only 19, so I have to keep taking things on board. Hopefully, if I carry on learning, I'll make it.

"The Premier League is teaching me a lot. Certainly, in my opinion, it is the best league in the world and definitely the quickest.

"So to push on it's simple - I just need to keep working, working, working until the manager decides that I merit a starting place."

I think Vela will be one of Arsenal great. He has a very good attitude and plays with a smile on his face all the time. He seems to enjoy football and that is very pleasing to see. Come on Vela!

I would have certainly put him ahead of bentdner thats for sure, it is only because bentdner is tall that he is playing he is supposed to act as a Target man ala ADE but a really, really bad version.
