Van Persie: No guarantees of trophies this season

Striker Robin van Persie has told Arsenal fans that he cannot guarantee trophies, but that he would try his best to ensure that the glory days returned to the club.

Arsenal have not won a trophy since 2005, then they defeated Manchester United in the FA Cup final.

van Persie scored two goals in the win over Plymouth Argyle to ensure progression to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.

He said: "At the time, no [I didn't think that] because Arsenal were winning trophies for fun.

"I came to the champions so I was expecting something like that but it's not really happened in the last three years.

"But it's not a reason for me to give up – it is a bigger challenge for me to do it. If we can do it now, then it is a big achievement.

"If you want to win a trophy you need to see it game by game. You can't say 'OK at the end I want to lift a trophy'.

"You need to give absolutely everything game by game. If you look at Man United, they had a great year, but if you look at the Champions League, they were lucky. Terry slipped. If he hadn't, it would have been different.

"It's really hard – the line between winning and losing is really thin.

"I know that everyone at Arsenal will give absolutely everything to win but still I can't guarantee we are going to win."

Scarleto boy genius, it is AW's job to be optimistic.. look at schuster, he told the media madrid wont win el classico.. r.madrid pres fired him at once..

what im fed up about is AW's pedophilia.. he buys players who are unknowns, altho they ARE prodigies really.. it's ok last season if we won the league.. his young gunners technique would have been genius and will surely be mimicked by other managers

BUT

we didn't win anything.. except for the emirates cup, etc.. ergo, AW's young gunners approach is not working, therefore,
BUY SOME EXPERIENCED PLAYERS FOR GOD'S SAKE!

You gotta give credit to VP for saying what he says. Shows his commitment to this great club. We will rise again and I want to see VP there basking in the glory!

there is nothing wrong when our manager says we can still win it
it shows his faith in the team
the last thing a team needs is a manager who syas he's not sure, and believe me if he did, u'd be up here posting that he neds to go and that he hasn't got the winning mentality

AW is a WINNER, he has the guts to say he can win it..
Look at rafa benitez, he isnt even sure if his team can win it!!!??
Look at scolari, he got a great team and still he cant win?!!!
and finally look at sir alex, the guy keeps going on about other teams going to dip while his team doesnt do anything spectacular..
i'm sorry
but i'm proud of my manager

At least he is being realistic. I am a bit fed up with Arsenal players (and the manager) talking themselves and the team up and repeatedly failing to deliver.
