Wenger: New signing must have class

Manager Arsène Wenger has said that the one thing he is looking for in any new signing is class, and that eligibility for the Champions League is not a concern for him.

At this stage of the season, a number of high-profile players will have played for their respective clubs in Europe's premier club competition, making them ineligible to play for their new clubs should they seek a transfer.

But Wenger says that he is looking long-term, and that if the new signing cannot represent Arsenal in Europe, it wouldn't be a stumbling block, but would be nice.

It is also important that the new recruit would not hamper the development and growth of his young squad, who represent the future of the club.

Wenger said: "I would like to think longer term. If the right player comes in, even if he is not available for the Champions League, his class is more important for me.

"At the moment I feel that if we do add somebody, we need to add somebody who has a special class because we have good players.

"[For example] take a player like Aaron Ramsey. They show that they grow. Of course they still show lapses, a lack of experience, but they have quality and they can grow quickly."

Hi mr Wenger pls get rid of Eboue,Bendtner and song and add an inspirational clinical finisher. it has been long since arsnal scored stoppage time winners and that is y it ends up with so many drawn games.dDAVID VILLA WILL DO.

Benzema would be a gud choice instead of Bedtner

Players like Arshawin can be a class player as wenger told

Before Arsenal can progress, certain players must be moved on. Bendtner and Eboue are indeed premiership standard players but are not world class (which Arsenal should be striving to achieve like 2004).
As good as Ade can be he's not clinical enough in front of goal and at times lazy.
Denilson (a bit lightweight), Song (prone to errors) and Diaby (doesn't know when to release the ball) all need time as do the promising Vela and Ramsey. Therefore great squad and prospective players of the future but do we have time? Current inconsistantcy states not.
I appreciate we have been unlucky with injuries and are not able to spend money frivolously but personally i would like to see the following realistic arrivals to bolster our weakening squad; Distin (Prem league experience £Low)
Yaya Toure (Strong, v.good on ball, used to playing real football)
Juan Mata (Valencia winger, class act. Valencia also skint!)
Mexes (No nonsense center back)
Jimmy Bullard (Proven prem experience £Low)
Please put your hand in your pocket Wenger, we are becoming frustrated with the reluctance to spend whilst every other team around us is adding depth.

I say we need a World Class experienced midfielder and a world class centre back. What was Arsene thinking buying another French, Man Utd, past his sell by date, player in that of Silvestre?

Perhaps George Graham needs to have a word with Arsene and talk to him about the old guard back 4!

Arsene had a chance to sign Yaya way back on the cheap, but now he'll be too much for Arsene to fork out.

Bring back Sol

David Villa is talking to Man City for more than twice what Wenger will spend on two players (if he even buys two). Something upwards of 40 mil I hear...
However I would really like to see a solid ball-winning midfielder join the ranks. There's no way bolstering our thin midfield will hamper the under 20 year old's progress.

Song is good...Bendtner is not villa is good bullard is not...ashley young...but we need more defensive players than attacking the likes of a upson, or a yaya toure...if Wenger sells Kolo i will actually go MAD, because he is class!

how can you compare a 21 and 20 year olds to a 299 year old and 27? year old?

Plz tell me if they are bad players when they got the same age...
David villa is class, but expensive and absolutely not needed atm, so why don't you come and give crappy quotes when u actually know something of the game....

I'm sure I'm the only one, but I feel a tad negative as to us signing anyone at all, another season without anything to show for it, is a thought of Arsene moving upstairs out of the question?

However they must be no older than 12, french speaking and importantly not cost more tham 5K as they will be deemed to expensive according to AW and as we all know he is not willing to spend silly money on new players or break Arsenal's wage structure!!
