Diaby: Don't compare me to Vieira

Midfielder Abou Diaby has said that the comparisons between him and former captain Patrick Vieira are inaccurate, as the both of them are very different players.

Diaby has been hailed as the new Vieira by some quarters, but the Frenchman says that whilst the both of them are physically similar, he is more attack-minded.

He said: "I am very different from Patrick — the only common point we have is that I am tall like him and maybe physically similar.

"I am maybe more offensive than him. I do like that position behind the striker - particularly when I was at Auxerre I used to play in that kind of role."

Lol. All your comments point to the same thing, which I'll have to agree, sadly. Diaby's performance is so disappointing - NO WHERE near vieira's legendary performance. And so much for the hype of him adequately replacing Flamini last summer. Sigh.

Thank you for this story. I really got the giggles. Compare Diaby to Vieira???? Noooooo.... Hold up the ball - pass it to your own team mates?? Didn't Vieira do that?

Diaby, we would never mistake you for vieira. You are sleeping walking in the game, vieira actually played football.

i would never compare you to viera ever and never cause i think you yourself think you are above that well come off your high horse because you will never make it as an arsenal player and never will make it in the premiership one of the worst players to dawn the red and white along with the other 10 the day cause that side is a joke no skill,zip,fluid,grace,fight nothing just a shadow of the former teams wenger wise up and respect the fans NOW ENOUGH IS enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets be honest i am arsenal to the core but lets get this straight,forget about being more attack minded than viera to be compared to the legend that viera was you would have least got to be able to play football with some kind of spirit,which diaby sadly lacks

Oh don't worry Diaby I don't think anyone will be comparing you to Vieira at ANY time soon - John Jensen and Eddie McGoldrick would be better comparisons me thinks
