Arsenal to allow playbacks for fans at matches

The Emirates Stadium could be leading the way again with new technology, after being (amongst other things) the first stadium to only have LCD displays.

There is now a proposal to allow fans attending matches to be able to watch replays on devices such as the Sony PSP.

Replays are currently shown on the two giant screens in the stadium, but this may soon change, with a proposal being to "enable patrons to watch live streaming video of a game, along with data and statistics, and provide the ability to watch near-instant replays."

It is likely to take 18 months to roll out.

Anyone willing to give the match officials a Sony PSP?

i wish we could supply our lovely refs with them PSP's, not the fans. sadly its the refs that make decisions not fans

.I bet Sony will be pleased with this news! I think it may create even more hysteria amongst fans when obvious decisions are deemed to have been called wrong by the officials. Personally i think on some levels it would be useful as certain parts of the ground depending where you happen to be seated don't allow full view of the close action. First of all i would like to see the assistants use the technology so they would be able to alert the man in the middle to information that might be helpful to his decision making - thus allowing the refs to be free of the equipment, which i fear might take his attention away from the gameplay & incidents at crucial times. Bit weird that we decide to do this when the FA seem to want to take replays away from games altogether, i love it!!! So anyone got a PSP for sale, let me know if you do within the next 18 months :-D

Wouldn't it be good if FIFA gave the ref a PSP so he could watch a replay.

It's just insanity that the only person who needs the benefit of a replay is the only person in the stadium who's not allowed to see one!
