Wenger praises Cardiff City defence

Manager Arsène Wenger has praised the commitment, organisation and determination of Cardiff City after seeing his side being held to a 0-0 draw in their FA Cup Fourth Round tie.

And the visitors suffered several scares in the first half and the result could have been worse if it hadn't been for the woeful finishing of the Cardiff City strike force.

The tie will now have to be replayed at the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger said: "I feel in the first half we started very well, but overall Cardiff had a good committed game and created some chances.

"In the second half we were on top and it was the quality of their defending and their commitment that stopped us scoring.

"The pitch, too, was not easy, but it was a great cup game and showed what this cup is about.

"At 0-0 anything could happen, but in the second half I wasn't so much worried as I had been in the first half.

"They created chances then on crosses but after they didn't create.

"Their centre-backs had a great game today and overall I think the whole team had a great day."

can't believe the manager is praising the defending scenerio. According to what i know Arsenal football club really needs a few exprienced players but it's quite too late to get players with only a few days left to close the windows. Maybe a surprise awaits I will keep waiting

It may have ended differently if Arsenal would take some shots on goal instead of fancy footing it in front of the net. Take the shot boys!

Managers and Gaffers of football clubs always get criticised for not praising the opposing side when a dissapointing result comes along but Wenger understand that sometimes you just have to say we had the squad playing on that day to FINISH THE JOB THEN and focus on Everton.

As it is a replay is needed WHAT A WASTE OF TIME replays only favour lower league and non league teams SO THEY CAN GET MONEY ! How does this benefit us?

Im gutted but hey ho now i have got that off my chest we will soldier on with Cardiff still in the back of our minds !

Breaking News!

Cardiff refuse request from Arsenal to take Eboue + 5 million pounds. They will agree to take the 5 million as long as Eboue isn't part of the deal.
