Agent: Arsenal turned down bid for Clichy

Gaël Clichy's agent has revealed that Arsenal turned down a £23 million offer from Manchester City for the left-back.

The news comes as Italian giants AC Milan are reported to be interested in securing Clichy's services.

However, this latest development should be taken with a pinch of salt as Clichy's agent could be making an attempt to drive any potential sale price up.

As reported on Setanta Sports, the agent said: "Gaël is under contract until 2012 with Arsenal.

"Milan must reach an agreement with Arsenal and then speak to us.

"But the problem is that I do not believe that the Gunners want to let the player go because they turned down a €25 million (£23 million) offer from Manchester City in January."

I would prefer someone who have a build like Toure or Sagna on left back. We still have Silvestre and Gallas to cover our left back aren't we? Move them there and get a Centre back isn't a bad option either.

It's a crying shame what supposed fans can wish for. One minute you throw the toys out moaning about how the club has sold all the experienced players without adequate replacement (how adequately could our attacking midfield be by the way) the next minute you jump at a cheque because you think you can put an amount on experience and team cohesion. Gael is vastly experienced despite his age and he's a pivotal member of the current crop having played at least 2 full seasons as first choice left back. His pace, anticipation of the odd ball, tackling and tenacity is unrivaled, he might have had some bad games this seasons and who doesn't? Anyone who would sell The Clich from a club that has been in the CL for the past 12 seasons consecutively and in the run-in for the championship and 2 major cups deserves to have their credentials checked. Anyway, that's why none of you is in any position to make decisions for the club. Fantasy football anyone?

they've got Wayne Bridge because they left Clichy alone.

I'd take that considering Clichy form lately. £23 million would be enough to bring a more solid player on left back.

I would sell Clichy for 23 million pounds. It's a lot of money.
