Striker Emmanuel Adebayor has hailed the team spirit that saw him and his team mates scrape a draw against a strong Villareal side, gaining the advantage in the quarter final tie.

The Togolese international scored the vital away goal with an audacious overhead kick in the second half.

Adebayor said: "The sign of a great side is to get a result when things are not going well for you.

"This proves we're still learning, we're growing up as a team and as a family. We've done that quite well today.

"We had to show that we never give up and I think as long as a team never give up they always have a chance to come back.

"In a difficult moment we still believe that we can do something and we can still come back."

"In the second half we showed character, personality, and desire. We love playing for this club and that's why we did well today."
