Arshavin praise for Wigan

Playmaker Andrey Arshavin has praised opponents Wigan Athletic, whom the Gunners defeated 4-1 over the weekend.

The Gunners went behind in the first half though, and Arshavin said that Wigan were well prepared and did not allow Arsenal time on the ball.

In particular, striker Mido was causing problems for the Arsenal defence, and Arshavin admits this.

Arshavin said: "Mido caused a lot of problems for us.

"They supplied him with long balls and their assault ended with a goal from a corner. It was well deserved.

"We could've been 3-0 down before the break.

"We had some serious problems but after Mido was substituted we levelled the score immediately.

"Wigan did not allow us to play from the start, closing us down on every inch of the pitch, sometimes playing quicker than us. I thought that they were quite strong physically.

"However our manager and ourselves knew that they will inevitably tire and that we will be able to capitalise then"

"With the scores level, Arsène brought in our leaders: Adebayor and van Persie. After getting to 2-1 we started finding free space, which is great for a team like ours.

"We are a better team, we have more technical ability and we took our chances."

I hope Wenger doesn't deploy that 4-1-3-1 formation again. A technically more gifted team could get lucky and counter us.

We're a 4-4-2 team. Plus we are to small up top to benefit from crosses come from the outside backs
