Manager Arsène Wenger praised defender Emmanuel Eboue and strikers Theo Walcott and Emmanuel Adebayor over their performances yesterday which helped record a 4-1 aggregate win over Spanish side Villarreal.
Walcott and Adebayor scored 2 of the 3 goals on the night, whilst Eboue stepped in for the unwell Bacary Sagna in the right-back position.
Wenger said: "In the first half sometimes I think Adebayor was a bit affected mentally because he was a few times offside but now he is strong mentally and he just kept going and scored a great goal in the second half.
"Theo's finishing - he is now calm in front of goal. The way he finished last week at Wigan and this week in a Champions League game shows that he will score goals.
"Sagna was sick and he has played many games as well so we decided to send him home and rest him today, I knew that had Eboue who is as well very good and can play midfield, or right-back or anywhere."

Eboue did very well in the right full back position. That is not surprising given his antecedents on arrival in arsenal. What this has shown is that Eboue can play at that position more regularly without as the case is at present for him to wait until Sagna is indisposed. This will not only bring in options for the team but keep Sagna on his guard against complacency

What more can I say? Eboue finally answered his criticts by redeeming himself at the right back position which made what he is today.
