Defender Mikael Silvestre has revealed that inside the Old trafford dressing room, there is a fear and respect for Arsenal as his former club prepare to take on the Gunners in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals.
United have never won at the Emirates Stadium but a draw will be enough to see them through.
Silvestre, who was with United for nine years, says that Arsenal have got to up the ante and play their usual fast, fluent football against the European champions.
He said: "I know at United they fear Arsenal so at the Emirates we have to make sure we are spot on and don't concede any goals.
"Being with United for nine years, I know playing Arsenal was always considered a tough game. You would always prepare for Arsenal games more carefully because you were up against good opposition.
"We had some luck and Manuel Almunia made some great saves in the first game.
"We have to take that luck with us to the Emirates. We also showed a lot of character considering the young age of the squad in that situation.
"United will believe they should have scored more goals but we showed our determination.
"Now we have to be more creative at the other end of the pitch and put the pressure on their defenders.
"United have been in this position many times before but they will still be worried about Arsenal. I have seen that as a United player."
