Playmaker Andrey Arshavin says that his team mates were not serious enough when playing against Chelsea over the weekend.
Arsenal suffered their worst ever home defeat at the Emirates, succumbing 4-1 to their West London rivals.
Many fans are adamant that there wasn't enough urgency in the team and Arshavin's latest comments seem to verify that.
Arshavin said: "Arsenal played properly only in the starting 15 or 20 minutes."
"After that, there was a feeling that it wasn't an important match but some ordinary training session.
"We woke up only after getting a goal back but that wasn't enough. Chelsea managed to convert their chances and we didn't - they were more skilful."

Arshavin has given Arsenal his best in the few months he's been around than many of the others in the years they've been around. He's well sought after. So if he's intimidated he'll just apply for a transfer. He's speaking for the good of the team and if Wenger and his boys do not like it-THAT'S THEIR PROBLEM. He can intimidate Almunia because no top team can make him first choice.

Winning habit and fighting spirit has to be instilled, preferrably from the manager. It is no use to depend entirely on individuals throughout the whole season, which is probably happening with the team. When the manager excuses poor showings by protective embracing, for convinient reasons, players become indifferent, especially some players have no selection competitions. And the manager has no pressure when the all-important financial frame-work provides buffer. In short,he board seems happy to have a sound business, trophies? It is hard graft and it will cost money,it can wait. Now this was reflected by some players. Arshavin, unfortunately, saw it.

It is not obligatory to it to be friend. It should be their senior friend...

True honest words from the Russian. I agree he needs to be quiet or his teamamtes might do him in the dressing room.

Thank God you recgnised the fact that chelsea was more skillful. But don't say that they(Arsenal)were not serious.Anyway, they were not serious because the saw they weren't going to get even a point out of the match. So, whats the point killing themselves fighting a lost battle.Blue is still the unfading colour!!!!

he would make a decent vice-captain but please bring in someone tough as steel as a main captain. but no one can deny about what he said, cause is the truth.

The Russian mafia threaten to kill Arshavin or his family if he ever plays against Chelsea.

I only hope that Arshavin will not get the booth for saying what Wenger hates most- to criticize fellow team mate. Remember that Almunia didn't make the bench in the said game not because he's injured, but because he intimated the press of dire Arsenal needed injection of experience players in the squad. Going by this, i'll be surprised if Arshavin did not make the Man Utd game.
