Manager Arsène Wenger has said that former striker Thierry Henry could have helped his team win the 2006/07 Premiership title.
The Gunners finished four points behind eventual Champions Manchester United after leading for most of the season, and Wenger feels that his former captain could have made the difference.
Henry left Arsenal to join Barcelona and has now won the Spanish Treble, including the Champions League, this season.
Wenger said: "Maybe he could have made a difference, maybe last year. We had 83 points and with him we could have gained two or three more that could have won us the championship.
"But at that time I felt that a guy who has played eight or nine years for you, and has shown that kind of desire, it's difficult to stand in his way.
"If he had done two or three years I would have said 'my friend, you stay here' but when he has given so much [it is different]. He had this opportunity at Barcelona, he had a first very difficult year but I am very happy he made it this year.
"He has convinced everybody because he is a top-class player and you want them to be successful."

Henry would NOT have made the difference. Allowing him to leave, with the greatest respect to him, freed the team and allowed them to perform as a unit instead of through him. This being said I would like to congratulate Henry with finally getting something substantial to represent the legend that he is.

Don't I also recall Wenger saying when we were flying high last season that we did so well because Henry had left and the players were liberated? So on one hand we did well because he was gone but on the other we didn't win because he was gone! Can't have it both ways Arsene.
