Manager Arsène Wenger has said that he did consider an offer from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
But the Frenchman turned down the offer in the end, saying that he had a responsibility to see his 'project' at the club through.
Wenger is also not a big fan of purchasing players to form a successful team. His policy at Arsenal is to build a team from the youth system at the club.
Wenger said: "I did consider the offer from Madrid, yes, because I am at time of my career where I don’t have another 10 years.
"I have been with the club for twelve years and I do not want to go on a year too far.
"I refused because I have built a young team and I couldn’t go before my work is done.
"I do not deny that it will be a decisive year. If we can’t fight for the title, it will be necessary to rebuild everything.
"An anti-Real policy has been established. We are building a style over time, a little like Barça. We don’t particularly need reinforcements, that depends on the departures."

As a Liverpool fan, i applaud The Professor for his integrity and principles as a coach and his view towards building a successful football team. Wenger and Real Madrid are far too different to have successful partnership: the Professor's angel-like insight in modern football far outweigh Real's greedy ambition and greed to winning the major trophies. Respect!

Great! Now he acknowledges after five years that a rebuild is required
