Pearce: Walcott will benefit from experience

England Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce says that Arsenal striker Theo Walcott will benefit from the experience he's gained from the European Championships.

Pearce clashed with Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger after the latter voiced his concerns over Walcott being involved with both the England Under-21s and the senior squad in their World Cup qualifying campaign.

But Pearce is saying that the experience would benefit the youngster in next year's World Cup finals in South Africa.

Pearce said: "There was some contention over Theo's inclusion but I think the experience will help him in South Africa without a doubt.

"Hopefully he can now walk out in South Africa in a year's time with this experience.

"He'll know what it's like to take a penalty in a penalty shoot-out, he knows what it's like to play in sudden-death matches and in a major final.

"Theo knows what its like to be involved in tournament football now. He has been to the World Cup with the seniors but he never actually played.

"It's important that he didn't get caught in noman's land in international football where he didn't get any experience.

"I would be very excited about Theo. The future is very rosy for him."

We should be able to match the so called 'experience' and fatic. Bojan of Barcelona bowed out of the senior team ie spain so he could concentrate on professional football. Theo has been involved in atleast two champions league. Which experience is better? Is it not based on that experience that he was invited to the national team? How can one player be involve in all competition (aged and senior team)? How many players have done this in the past? Do we destroy him because he is good? Playing too many matches exposes him to injuries, fatic, etc. Let him concentrate on professional and senior teams. He is no more a baby.

Didn't learn anything????

I'm sure he did in the penalty shoot out with Sweden and losing 4-0 to Germany in the final.

Pearce has proved himself to be a great coach, I don't remember any England U-21 side being this good before!

He makes it soud as if Theo will not play any football between now and the world cup.

What should be obvious is that if we don't give him a rest, he will be burnt out by the time WC2010 comes round.

Pearce is a dreadful coach and very naive. Playing Theo as a lone striker was ludicrous. I doubt he learnt anything from this tournament.
