UPDATE: I've edited this article to reflect more comments from Melo that have come to light. The previous version of this article was based on information I had at the time.
Brazilian international Felipe Melo has said that only God knows his future after re-iterating his commitment to Fiorentina.
The Confederations Cup winner is a target for manager Arsène Wenger but the North London club have been unable to meet Fiorentina's valuation of the midfielder.
However, his comments seem to indicate that he is currently very happy with his situation at Fiorentina.
Melo said: "I come back to Italy when I end my holidays.
"I have a contract with Fiorentina in which it was written that should I have a good first season, the club would have the possibility to extend my contract automatically from five to six years.
"They utilised this clause and I am really happy.
"I owe Fiorentina a lot. I arrived and I immediately became a regular. I have never been on the bench.
"I can say that only God knows what my future holds if the club decides to sell me elsewhere."
Fiorentina had earlier indicated that they were willing to consider a cash plus player deal to help Arsenal meet their valuation of Melo.

Felas, sorry to burst ur bubble, but I dont think melo is that good. Sure he is a good player, but not exactly the monster DM we need. Inler is available again, and I rate him even higher than Cana.
So, my shortlist would be:
Flamster (in a trade-in deal with adebarndoor)
Gokher Inler (spelling good?)
Cana
toulalan
meloLets get things in perspective. We are all excited at the prospect of a new DM, but we dont just want anyone, we want the best for us in that position.

I don't believe that he would not welcome a move to Arsenal, he just said that he is happy there. I believe that he would welcome a move to us. We just have to wait and see if Arsene' can pull this one off. He is needed at Arsenal so we would welcome him I am sure.

It doesn't appear that Melo has actually said that he is not interested in coming to Arsenal. He simply reiterated that he would be happy with the current situation where it to continue.

I'd like to say that this is an incomplete translation of the 'interview' Melo went on to say : “I can say that only God knows what my future holds if the club decides to sell me elsewhere.”...according to C4 News.
I think all these quotes are cobbeled together from a piece he did about a week ago. Not sure if AW will sign him, not sure if he's actually good enough to set Song and Denilson back a few years, but I don't think these quotes today tell us anything new.

He hasn't said he doesn't want to move to us.
At the end of that interview he goes on to say that he doesn't know what the future holds and that if Fiorentina accept an offer then so be it.
Missed that bit off.

If Melo doesn't want to join Arsenal and no one at Arsenal FC has come out and expressed a real solid interst in the player then just let him stay where he is and just look take our interests elsewhere.

no offence, but this is a rubbish and pointless article, you don't know arsenal haven't met the valuation plus when in that quote does he say I dt want to go to arsenal, all he is saying is he has a contract with fiorentina.

Where does it say that he isn't interested in a move to Arsenal precisely? He is showing himself to be an honourable guy, which after years of Ashley Cole, Flamini, Hleb and now Adebayor, make shim even more attracti

Where in this article is he quoted to say that he does not want to come to Arsenal. Just because he says he will be back in Italy does not imply he does not want to come to England.

He hasn't said that he's not interested in Arsenal has he??? All he's saying is that should things remain the same, he's more than happy to stay with Fiorentina. I doubt he'll be crying himself to sleep at night if he ends up with us coz Fiorentina decided to cash in!!!!

He's not saying that he's not interested. He's saying he's happy in Fiorentina, not that he wouldn't move.
