Adebayor didn't move for money (he says)

Striker Emmanuel Adebayor has denied that he's moved away from Arsenal because of money.

The Togolese international sealed a £25 million move to Manchester City over the weekend, and amidst claims that he will be the highest paid player in England with a salary of £170,000 a week, it's difficult to accept that he hasn't moved because of the cash on offer.

But Adebayor denies this, saying that he was offered more money last season from AC Milan and Barcelona but didn't request a transfer then. However, wasn't it because the club blocked any potential transfer?

Adebayor said: "People who think that I have joined City for the money are wrong.

"If I had made a move for that reason then I would have been playing for Barcelona or (AC) Milan last season. They gave me bigger offers than Arsenal did for me to stay.

"The chairman and everyone at City want this club to be one of the best in the world. We will fight to be that.

"I want to win silverware and trophies. That is my ambition. The team has got quality and a manager who knows what he wants and is a nice guy."

Right, and you'll have more chances of that at City than at Arsenal, who are in the Champions League?

Thanks for the 46 goals over two seasons, but let's be honest here, eh?

What he said doesn't make any sense. He said that there were offers with more on the table last year. So why pick this year to make your move. Why not go last year. Then you sign a long term contract last year to stay. So why sign the contract as it seems that you had intentions on leaving last year. Another thing is that if he thinks he is going to start over Tevez and Santa Cruz, he is delusional.

Joining City when there are already 4 top class strikers there is the worst possible decision Ade could have made. He will be warming the bench for a good portion of the season realising what he had and lost at Arsenal.

Have a good life Ade, thanks for the goals.. and the 25 mil.

How many years did it take Henry to win at Barca? so don't worry Ade could still win next season as he is still young

Well he`s gone and I for one am happy about that.

Outside being a disruptive influence and having no idea what the word `loyalty` means, saying money was not his motive also makes him a liar.
