Former Arsenal captain Thierry Henry has backed his old team to win the Premiership, despite them losing their top striker and see their rivals strengthen.
Henry is confident that Arsenal still have the capability to challenge for honours, and he used his previous departure from the club as an example of how his old team mates have pulled together and mounted a challenge for the title.
Henry said: "Arsène and Arsenal have proven so many times they can win without spending a lot of money. People talk about the top four but the only thing that matters to me is who is going to be top, and I know that's how Arsène sees it as well.
"It's not going to be easy without Adebayor, obviously, and what happened with Nasri [a fractured fibula] was unlucky, but I still believe they can win the League.
"That is always my feeling about my old club. It won't be easy because there are teams who are doing it every time, but you never know.
"I remember when I left everyone was saying it wouldn't be the same, but they ended up having a great season and nearly won the League.
"It can happen this year. I know everybody is saying this and that, but in my heart I will always talk like that."

I am very happy to hear that Henry is still with Arsenal in spirit even though physically he is at Barca. With all this I am looking forward for us to be the Champions. Its true when he left I though it was the end of Arsenal realized that it made us more stronger. Great men talk about great thing Kudos Henry

he is exactly right. 2 seasons ago we nearly won the league and if you look at our squad now i think it is just as good if not better than 2 years ago. we were really unlucky last season with injuries. rosicky and eduardo were injured for the whole season, fabregas was injured for 2-3 months and we lost 3 of our back four going into the champions lge semi final and the F.A cup semi final(gallas nd clichy were sidelined for the rest of the season) that makes us the most unlucky team in the prem when it came to injuries last season

Chamakh has gone to Sunderland, to me that`s a relief I feel we have sufficient strike power and we can afford to wait and see what Christmas offers.
On the defensive mid field (this is the bit that sounds like a cracked record)we need to reconsider our financial policy and amend it a little, this won`t break the bank but we need to up the ante to say fifteen maybe sixteen million.
Whilst on the subject of money I am so happy to learn that the UEFA are now considering controls on what clubs can spend and relating it to their income. About time.

I agree with USAgunner we have zero chance of winning anything this season,we're a club going backwards i wish it wasn't true but it is...reality is going to bite this season and its going to be painful. As for henry,we all love him but he has to much class to say anything negative about arsenal but deep down he knows the truth.

thierry is a legend, i hope he comes back to arsenal to help coach or something when he's finished in spain. however, i think if we really want to be in with a shout of winning the league we'll need to add 2 or 3 more players.most importantly, a central midfield player of high calibre - we never really replaced flamini

Lets be honest guys, we have the skill but unless we get reinforcements in the back and midfield we will not win anything for another year. I am a gunner in my heart but we are broke, its not that Arsene is stingy with the money, we are just broke, we are truly getting left behind

Nice to hear an ex player and TRUE legend of the club speaking positively about Arsenal and with some class unlike the bitter Cuntley.

Thierry Arsenal can do with you, But with you we make a great defance. In the case of Emmanuel we need a fighter who will replace him.

Of course they can. They have the same chance as anyone else. It is just the negative press that keep putting them down

What a class act. See, he never degrades his former team. An act that A Cole should follow. He's exactly right too. We can win the league. Just have to have confidence.

I've always admired this guys level of professionalism. I was so happy for him when Barcelona won the CL cause he really deserves it as a player with his immense talent. Arsenal would ALWAYS be in his heart!!
