Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor revealed that he never asked to leave Arsenal, and that his £25 million transfer was out of his control.
The Togolese international said that manager Arsène Wenger informed him that the club had accepted the offer from City and that he should consider leaving the North London club.
Coming to the conclusion that the club needed the money, Adebayor said: "Arsène put me where I am today and I am grateful for that. But he can never ever stand up and say I told him last summer I would be leaving that club.
"I only ever told him I loved the club and that I wanted to stay. I don't think our relationship has been broken but I think the club needed money, they had to sell someone and pointed the finger at myself.
"I am happy they got their money and I hope they spend it well. I send everybody there my regards and I think I leave with a good name.
"I came back from holiday on July 13 and, in my first training session, they told me they had accepted an offer for me. It was a strange feeling. At first it was quite difficult but then I thought: 'OK, now you have another challenge.'
"Arsène Wenger told me they had accepted City's offer and I asked him why he wanted to sell me.
"I found out that Arsenal needed money and that I was the target. I never wanted to leave Arsenal but, today, it is all behind me ."

That's so naive chalmers. Of course he never asked for a move. He never had to. That's what he's got an agent for, to beaver away behind the scenes to get the best deal from wherever. That's been the story of the last two seasons and it has allowed Adebayor to come out with all this love for the club while fluttering his eylashes at Milan and Barcelona and all the time angling for more cash at Arsenal or elsewhere. My guess is that Wenger decided he'd had enough and that Adebayor's actions and those of his agent were just too disruptive.

Yes, Ade never asked to leave. But he made a comment like: Milan = Beyonce, then Arsenal = ?...Estelle, may be.
Have to say GOOD RIDDANCE. Just hope Wenger get us Mr. Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

u can believe what you want. adebayo never asked for the move. wenger decided to sell because of people like Numnuts. he will do the same to eboue, song and denilson to suit your demands. thereafter he will also leave then we will get hopefully a coach with the tactics and players that suit your needs. wenger builds the team that he(only he) thinks can deliver the results. if that team fails then its his fault. do you want him to take coaching lessons from you. why dont you go and do the job yourself

This man is clearly an enormous chump, he said the exact same thing last year when he was angling for a move, I find it very hard to believe anything that comes out of this twats mouth. I think his ability has been debated enough and since he no longer plays for us is an issue resigned to the books, suffice to say, good riddance you word-mincing, spotty hat wearing, wannabe pop idol nonce...

Ade, we appreciate your contribution. As fans we adore the club. I know we'll meet someday and it will be tough playing us.
All the best.
