Former Arsenal left-back Ashley Cole, who moved to West London rivals Chelsea under controversial circumstances, yesterday said that he wanted Manchester City to finish above the Gunners.
It was another unnecessary salvo in his hate relationship with Arsenal fans, who aren't exactly fond of him and he's done nothing (as a public figure) to let bygones be bygones.
And now Arsenal legend Ian Wright has criticised the England international, saying that such statements were unnecessary and that Cole needs to be more diplomatic.
Wright said: "If he wants the backlash then carry on, does he need to do it, no, he does not.
"He should just skirt round the issue and avoid the question, but for some reason Ashley has come out and said this and he really doesn't need to.
"He left the club under controversial circumstances, and Ashley Cole remains a sensitive subject for Arsenal fans, so why does he do it?"

I think Ian Wright is right with his commend. I would like arsenal fans to understand the season will have a very big challenge upfront and so shall we be focus determined, concentrate and we shouldn't underrate any team. Also would like us to understand that this season we should be cup contender and shouldn't be left behind by any of this clubs. We're a great club who has a lot of respect home and abroad and would like us to bring back the spirit to back to Emirate stadium. Gunners from birth and for live.

IM A CHELSEA FAN MYSELF, AND ITS NICE TO SEE A FEW UNBIASED COMMENTS.
YOU SHOULD KNOW(AND IT SOUNDS BY READING THAT YOU DONT ALREADY) THAT WHEN HE SAID THAT HE IMMEDIATELY SAID HE WAS JOKING. HE WAS PLAYING UP TO THE REPORTERS, END OF.
AS SAID ABOVE IF YOU SEE THE INTERVIEW ITS PLAIN TO SEE HE WAS MESSING WITH THE REPORTERS.
AND AS FOOTIE FANS IM SURPRISED THAT YOU TAKE WHATS WRITTEN SO SERIOUSLY! THE HACKS WOULDNT KNOW THE TRUTH IF IT JUMPED UP AND SMACKED EM IN THE FACE!
YES IT WAS IN BAD TASTE BUT IT WAS ONLY A JOKE. ITS JUST THE REPORTERS PUTTING THE SLANT ON THIS!

He is jealous of arsenal. I first saw it in 2008 during the first Arsenal vs Chelsea mathch of that season when he hit Cesc with his fist. Did anybody notice that? That day Arsenal won 1-0 through a Gallas header.
He is stupid and will forever be ashamed when Arsenal wins.

Cole is an excellent player regardless of how much we gooners dislike him. As for his comments, who cares? He's on the wind-up for the amusement of his very small and underused/unused mind. Good player, but for an indication of how much respect people have for his thoughts and opinions, see the sales figures for his ghost-written autobiography.

Has anyone seen him say these comments, or is it just
another reporter sturring things up.Let's face it he's
a terrific player and Chelsea have surely got the better deal as Cole is playing out of his skin for the last year. We've ended up with Gallas, now he's a
bigger whinger than Cole will ever be.He's the only
player ever, ever to win the FA Cup five times. If he
never played again he'll have done something no other
person will probably ever do.We can all say what we like about £5000 but he was promised a certain amount
which was then reduced by the club and Cole got on his
high horse and that was that. What would anyone of us do in our jobs if we didn't get what we were promised.

Its true he has feelings for Arsenal and Chelski is not something you go around talking about that you love. Reason being it was a money motivated move and people are not stupid. Wait and see what happens to him after we've won EPL and CL. The only problem is the board who keep hijacking all the money frm Wenger.

Not much chance of Arsenal winning th eleague next year. At least three far superior teams ahead of you, including Ashleys team.
I remember when the Gallas/Cole deal was done and Arsenal fans were crowing about getting the better deal.
Gallas has been absolute cack, yet Ashley gets better every game.
I know who I'd prefer.
And if you listen to the interview being quoted here, it's all said tongue in cheek and he even states that he is joking.

The guy is a clown - full stop! It's stupid remarks like this which is why everyone but Chelsea fans just can't stand him. I think he has been rubbish since he left Arsenal for Chelsea anyway, when he was a Gunner he was easily one of the top 3 leftbacks in the world. Clichy is miles ahead of him now. Good riddens to bad rubbish I say!!

Will someone tell ashley cole to concentrate on his career at chelsea and leave arsenal alone. Let him demonstrate his hatred for arsenal in the field of play anytime chelsea is playing arsenal by scoring as many goals as he can, but on pages of newspapers or in front of television cameras, no, no, no. Cole is a shame to himself, family, chelsea and england. He should be cautioned.

Cashley has done better since he left.we nurtured him.he has gone for the cash and should enjoy it quietlty.who looks likely to drop down?chelsea as other players not improving except jt,lamps and dd.maybe he wants city to come get him.gibbs will soon overtake him for the 3lions as gael and evra have done in epl.some ppl cant handle situations and think much of selves.this reminds me of ade.1 goal in 19 and AW took him.he did 30 and missed 100 and thought he was henry.he has a stupid agent and i sincerely think he wont make city 11.who will give him 12 assists in 1 game?Kanu left when we didnt give him contract but he still supports arsenal and hasnt shown bad feelings.good players talk o the pitch-kaka,arshavin,toure,rvp,cesc,rosiscky

Ashley Cole has shown all that his heart is still with Arsenal and believe me, till date he still regrets leaving Arsenal. You should expect that a few trophies should make him feel like he has won but this statement shows, he still feels like there is something he would have loved to do with Arsenal. Unfortunately he had his chance and bungled it. Arsenal is a club that treats players well and just to justify his stupidity, he's making all the comments. I only hope Wenger graps a trophy this time. That will kill him.

No one knows what is the tru story between Arsenal and Cole.
But for Cole to say this, just shows the stupidity of this person, and how shallow he is.
He lacks education & culture, to say this in public. Pity him

This simply goes to show how well he's matured as a senior player... Its actually a shame that we had him in the first place but good we got rid of such whiners on time. I'm sorry I've had to be rude on this, but I had to get to the level he did in order to make things even... Yes it is about getting even... I'm a 19yr old boy who wouldn't do something like this if I were to leave an organization after some grudge at the back of my head, let alone when I'm an icon and a celebrity and represent a huge audience like that of England/Chelsea....
