A close aide of billionaire shareholder Alisher Usmanov has questioned the decision behind the sale of striker Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City.
London-based Farhad Moshiri, who has close links to Usmanov, is especially curious over the transfer of a proven striker, albeit for a lucrative sum of money, and going into the new season with a potentially weaker squad.
It doesn't seem that Moshiri is aware of the fact that our Togolese international didn't want to stay, and did his best to engineer a move away from the club. There is no point holding onto a player who is not committed to the cause.
Moshiri said: "He did not have the best of seasons last year so I can understand the fans' feelings, but the bottom line is we are down a proven striker going into the next season.
"He averaged 20 goals a season so unless we replace him with a striker of that talent we will be weaker going forward.
"That is the most worrying thing because Manchester City with their enormous firepower are one of the challengers for the fourth spot and I would have felt much better if he had been sold to any other club than Man City."
Moshiri also said that David Dein's exit has hurt the North London club much more than they anticipated. He concluded: "Based on what the fans say, I think the short answer is that (Dein) was never replaced.
"What I'm sure of is that Arsenal enjoyed great success under the Wenger-Dein axis and that has never been repeated."

Totally agree with Mr.KenyanGooner, Adebayor work rate and ethics is a shame. Good to see him gone.

As an arsenal fan (and I happen to be an African supporter) - I wanted Adebayor gone... His work rate, attitude left lots to be desired.
Transfer window is still open so lets not assume anything about no signings being made.

ARSENAL BOARD SHOULD CONSIDER RIGHTS ISSUE
Kroenke and Fiszman are killing the club. These two guys are only interested in making money but not helping the club. Where is AST? Have they been bought by Kroenke and Fiszman? Wenger is a great coach but being frustrated by Kroenke and Fiszman. It is only the current board members (Kroenke and Fiszman) that have become big stumbling block towards the progress of the club. For heaven shake, why did they refuse the proposal of Usmanov to reduce the current choking debt? This board needs to rethink again and come up with a viable means of reducing this choking debt!!! Why in this modern world do you reject such offers with even a rider of underwriting the issues is not fully taken. I would like all sensible Arsenal fans globally to look at the scenario below:
Suppose the new rights of 500 million rights are issued at an issue price of 20 pounds!!! What will be the results of the issue?
Utilization of Funds Raised from Rights Issue Pounds (Mns)
New Funds 10,000
Less Emirate Stadium Loan 450
Less Apartment developments 200
Net Balance 350 mnThe club will raise a total of 10 billion pounds or 10,000 million pounds. This will definitely be raised due to underwriting of the entire rights issue. How will this amount be utilized?
Arsene will enjoy pounds 350 million in developing the club further with 50 million pounds can be used to buy new players, 100 million pounds can be used for youth and academy development that will continue to develop young talented players, 50 million pounds can be used for building the club global brand name and developing global merchandise network outlets that will continue to bring new funds through sales of arsenal merchandise in the global market.
In the net analysis, the club will still have pounds 150 for any other use with a clean book without debts at all.
Please the board members look at this and come forward with a working formula that will ensure that no single shareholder should own more than 30%. The shares can be sold to all Arsenal fans in the whole world to only Arsenal fans.
I appeal once again to the board to relook at the proposal.

For those of you who don't think Bendtner can step up, then how do you explain him only scoring one less goal than Adebayor last season, with much less playing time than the Togolese??

This Moshiri is close friends with the fat Russian, who works with David Dein..... is there not a altera motive here..... Ade was shit and we got 25 Million for him, the transfer window still has over a month to run and when people are making negative comments about the club that are apparently looking at the clubs best interest you have to think there is an agenda.... Keep the Russian away from our club, don't listen to the spin in the papers or websites that don't understand the subject the write about.

If Arsenal wants to remain competitive this season, either Eduardo will have to be fit all season, or we'd have to find a quality striker in this transfer window. It is your preference whether to like Adebayor or not, but to think that Bendtner should step up...in such a defining and crucial season for Arsene Wenger and the club's policy for the past 5 seasons...Sorry I think people are just not being responsible...
Nevertheless, I think that if we can get a good box to box midfielder to pair with fabregas/nasri/rosicky (and we solve the striker problem), we'd be aiming at the premier league champions this season.

I'm glad ade is gone. Yes arsenal MUST replace with a better striker..fancy wenger dragging his feet again. And the Arsenal board is real selfish and stupid. You NEED money and Wenger is cash-strapped. Yet they REFUSED Usmanov's input. Go figure about this stupidity and selfish attitude... Do they really care about the club??

Moshiri is a close aide to Usmanov. His views wouldn't be too biased then would they!!
Arsenal pays its own way. What will happen to the BOUGHT clubs when their funders get fed up of spend spend spend and move on.

Seriously, Adebayore for an out and out stricker was not that good, granted for most of last season he played up front on his own, but still his score rate was 1 in every 3games. You could see it after Eduardo's injury. We through that season away because we didn't have a striker who was consistent even when teammates are struggling. But even then recall in that run of not winning games Arsenal didn't loose and the chances were being created just not being put away.
On the Dien issue he is absolutely correct. We were toothless last season because we didn't have a good defensive midfielder an enforcer type. The same role Flamini played so well the season before. If Dein was there I doubt very much that Flamini would have been able to leave. I mean for so long he was a bench warmer but was always convinced to sign a new contract and lets face it he's not exactly earning an obscenely huge amount at Milan. In fact he is earning less than Adebayore did last year.

Did you see Ade's miss on his city debut? Also, he was not a 20 goal striker last season, despite the amount of chances he was presented with
Its easy to pick out single games where players have had a mere, but we will be more effective as a team with either Eduardo or Bendtner up front. There's also still plenty of time in which to bring someone in
This guy clearly has his own agenda and it presents a more worrying vision of the influence that the Usmanov camp would have over transfers despite their clear demonstration of lack of knowledge of football matters. Do we really want these guys telling wenger who to buy and sell?

Cmon Guys a close friend of Usmanov is used by him to place a story favouring Usmanov and you buy it. Basic statistics suggest that Adebayors goal average has been skewed by one good season. Lets see if Eduardo can fill the gap.....

The man has a point, regardless of what the gooner fans think, a proven striker has been sold and not replaced. I fear for Arsenal this season, they are living on a knife edge. We see Everton and Villa imp[roving and expect a something from city even though I think they will only finish 6th at the best. It seems to me there is a smoke screen at the club, I don't think the board or Wenger are being honest. For example the board say Wenger has the money to spend and Wenger says he might not spend it. Something is awry here and the fans are losing patience. I see the lots of the executive boxes are not being renewed this year and regardless of the credit crunch if Arsenal were doing well these boxes would have been snapped up.
Big year for the gooners who I think deserve more from the club, I mean it costs more to see the gooners than any other team in the world bar possibly Chelsea. For that money, you want and deserve to be chasing and watching the best players in the world. Of course they do but they seem to be playing for the opposing team??A west ham fan whose mates are all gooners!

Vermaelen in £10m, Adebayor out £25m and we have since read from Arsenal, that to buy Arsene will have to sell. Possibly Eboue, Bendtner, Senderos! Yet Spurs still have managed to exceed our spending by £8m. I suppose there are some who will say we could get rid of these players. Next year will it be Fabregas, Clichy? As supporters the Board should tell us the course they are embarked on for the Clubs future and there personal intentions. Moshiri is entitled to raise the question. So don't shoot the messanger.

Actually he is not wrong.
You don't get rid of a 20+ goal scorer to your rivals unless you can bring in better.
Not one coach in the premier league thinks that Bentnder can step up. Let alone we would risk our entire future if we lose the CL position, to a kid who looks shell shocked everytime he misses an open net.
Were any of you there at the Burnley game in Carling cup?

Moshiri's presuming we wanted Adebayor to stay....
Well, most Arsenal fans wanted him gone. We had his best season.
His (and his agents') actions touting himself to Utd & Chelsea once the City deal was in place, whilst claiming he needed to think about the move for personal reasons are lamentable.
Add that to his Bentner headbutt during a game and the fact that he's offside 20 times a game, for me, it's good riddance.
An unpleasant character with a bad attitude to the game and his team mates.Follow the money, Ade.

I think that's what this tool is saying: 'Oh, if only you'd let us inject this money, we could have enticed him to stay.'
Sorry, still don't want him. If we have to suction cup a stick dangling thousand-pound notes in front of him to his forehead to get him to move on the field... actually, I want to see City invent this device, because they'll need it.
