Wenger happy with Arsenal's pace and movement

Manager Arsène Wenger has said that he's happy with the speed and movement of his players today as they easily saw off Scottish champions Rangers in today's Emirates Cup.

The Gunners won 3-0 with a brace from Jack Wilshere and one more from Eduardo. A 4-4-1-1 formation, with Francesc Fabregas, Wilshere and Arshavin providing the killer passes for Fran Merida and Eduardo whilst Alex Song took on defensive duties in the middle of the park.

Wenger said: "I believe overall we played a good game, with good cohesion and good movement, and of course Jack was on the end of it twice, but I think it was a good team performance.

"It shows that we have good players. If you look at the players that did not play in the two games, I believe that we have a very good squad."

This new formation has been used by Wenger in most of the pre-season games and looks to be the formation for the season, and it's fluidity and cohesion was a joy to watch as the Gunners dominated possession and cut open a resolute Rangers defence at will.

It of course helps when you have three midfielders who can pass the ball around with flair and creativity, but based on the performances from the weekend, I think we're in for an exciting campaign.
