Rosicky injury confirmed, but not major

Czech Republic international Tomas Rosicky, who has just returned from a long-term injury, has suffered another setback in his bid to regain full match fitness. Rosicky hurt his hamstring in training and is expected to be out for another 6-8 weeks.

By all accounts, it doesn't seem like it's a recurrence of the old injuries that kept Rosicky on the sidelines since January 2008, more like he probably pushed himself too hard in training.

Manager Arsène Wenger confirmed the setback during yesterday's press conference.

It is a shame as Rosicky has looked quite sharp in the two matches that he's played in the Emirates Cup, even scoring a beautiful long-range effort which was disallowed for a marginal offside.

Wenger said: "It is worrying. He was so sharp that it is difficult to accept that he has had a muscle injury.

"But it is not a major problem. You get that type of injury after you have been out for 18 months."

We wish him all the best with a speedy recovery, and hope to see him back in action sooner rather than later.

This is quite normal after a lengthy lay off. The level of demand on the muscles of these guys is high and their body becomes unacustomed to this level of sustained activity. RVP and Eduardo both had 2-3 set backs with strains. Don't be surprised to see Rosicky get 2-3 strains in the hamstrings groin or thigh up til the christmas period.

This Rosicky injury, is more reason why arsenal need to bolster their squad with new signings, i would not want history to repeat itself. Arsenal need to marry consistency.
