Manager Arsène Wenger has admitted that he took a risk by playing captain Francesc Fabregas today as the young Catalan was carrying a niggly injury going into the match against Portsmouth.
Fabregas was replaced at half-time by Aaron Ramsey, who opened his Premier League account for the season with a well-taken finish. Fabregas is now doubt for the match against Celtic on Wednesday and against champions Manchester United next weekend.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Wenger said: "If it is a little pull, he will be out for three weeks, if it is just tightness, maybe he can get away for Wednesday. In 48 hours, we will have a better view.
"We went into the game with him a little bit injured and he made it worse, so let's see how it goes."
Fingers crossed.
