Walcott: Fast is never enough, make the difference

Nice to see that young Theo Walcott is making use of his time being out injured to increase his profile on the viral video network. After his Foot Locker video, the Englishman has finished filming Nike's Make The Difference campaign.

The blurb for the advertising campaign is as follows:

One of the remarkable things about Arsenal's fast start to the season is that they've managed it without their speediest asset. When they take to the field at Old Trafford on Saturday evening, Theo Walcott will be sat at home in recovery from a back injury that has delayed the start of his World Cup season.

Walcott, more than anyone, knows that fast is good. But if Arsenal are to end their wait for trophies, they'll need more than a sprightly start. Arsenal opened the season in similar fashion in 2007, before crumbling late on. Back then, Walcott watched the majority of the campaign from the substitutes bench, writing headlines with occasional cameos of brilliance.

This time, he'll return from injury as a key member of Arsène Wenger's squad. A fleet-footed flash of ability won't be enough though - he'll need to rise to the occasion week after week, be it in Manchester or Madrid, until the prizes are dished out in May. This time, he won't be making up the numbers - he'll be making the difference.

Quite, but it's always useful to be able to make the difference when you're actually in the team and scoring goals. It's not known yet when Walcott will be able to recover from his recurring injury, but let's hope it's sooner rather than later.
