Captain Francesc Fabregas revealed that referee Mike Dean, who officiated Arsenal's 2-1 loss to Manchester United, had admitted that he made a mistake in the match.
The Spaniard also admitted his disappointment at the result, especially after his side had dominated the game. But the young Catalan, currently on national duty with Spain, has promised a very different game when United visit the Emirates next year.
Fabregas said: "The Premier League is a very tough league to play in and you have to be at your best week in, week out because there are not many easy opponents.
"The referee has admitted he made a mistake [in the Man United game] but we can't do anything about it now. We can only look forward to the next game.
"Yes, it hurts to lose in that way, but we were denied many opportunities and it was a very physical game - maybe too physical - but we showed that we will not be bullied by anybody. And when they [United] play us at home, it will be very different.
"Clubs try not to let us play our style of football and some use questionable tactics, but we will not be intimidated by anyone."
Whether Dean's admission was a reference to the denial of an Arsenal penalty after the tackle by Fletcher on Andrey Arshavin, or the Wayne Rooney penalty, or Arsène Wenger's sending off, we do not know.
But in such a high-profile match, it's appalling that the performance of England's top referee should result in so many points for discussion.
