Gallas' contract to be renewed in December

Manager Arsène Wenger has said that he's looking forward to renewing defender William Gallas' contract at the end of the year.

Gallas has started the season well with new signing Thomas Vermaelen, but with the Gunners not having kept a clean sheet in the league yet this season, there is still improvement that needs to be done.

And Wenger is willing to give Gallas that time to improve, saying that Gallas' chances of staying at the heart of the Emirates defence are good.

Wenger said: "I will assess William's contract in December but the signs are good for him.

"Gallas and Vermaelen look comfortable together and are good for each other.

"It is sometimes difficult to know who makes the other one good."
