Striker Robin van Persie is set to make a return after missing out on the Champions League game against Standard Liege.
Manager Arsène Wenger confirmed the Dutchman's improved condition, saying that the knee injury suffered has gotten better.
Wenger said: "Now let us focus on Wigan because the Premier League is the most important thing for Arsenal.
"When we play every three days, it is always like a final for Arsenal who want to be at the top.
"It is just one more game and the season has just started so we have a lot of time to recover."
Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia might also shake off a chest infection, but there are rumours that the Spaniard was dropped against Liege. Arsenal have only managed one clean sheet all season.
