Captain Francesc Fabregas said that his team had to do better defensively after seeing them recover from going behind twice against Blackburn Rovers to eventually win 6-2.
The midfielder, who was voted Man of the Match after being involved in five of the six goals, also put to rest worries over his commitment to the club by kissing the crest on his shirt when he scored the fourth goal.
Fabregas also had five shots on target in the first half but couldn't find a way past Rovers keeper Paul Robinson.
The young Catalan said: "We played well in the first half but were not so good defensively. We could have done better in that area of our game.
"Nevertheless, I am happy with the team's performance but we have to remember that this is only one game in a season towards winning the title.
"I am committed to this club 100 per cent, it is my seventh season here. It is hard to hear people saying I am not committed enough or something. It was a good time to show I love this club.
"We did not do well in the first 10 to 15 minutes and were a bit shaky defensively. But after the goal we did well and it was a good game."
Former captain Thierry Henry was also at the match with young daughter Tea Henry, and the Frenchman received an enthusiastic welcome from the Emirates faithful.
On his return to his former stomping ground, Henry said: "I was confused, didn't know what to do so I thought I'd just go out there and wave to the supporters.
"I didn't know what reception I was going to get, but am very humbled by the response that I got.
"I will always feel that I belong here."

Yes, [I kissed the badge] to show that I am 100 per cent committed to this club. There has been a lot of rumours and speculation and hopefully this puts them to rest.
