Walcott: I love this new system

Striker Theo Walcott has said that he's very excited about playing in the new system being deployed by manager Arsène Wenger this season. The team famously moved from their tradition 4-4-2 formation to 4-3-3.

Walcott, who scored on his season debut over the weekend against Blackburn, said that 4-3-3 provides him with a freedom to roam the flanks and cut inside to have a shot at goal.

He also explained that one of the benefits of the new formation was that him and his team mates were encouraged to interchange positions, and this could be the reason why there has been 15 different goalscorers already this season.

Walcott said: "I think this formation gives you more license to go forward so I should be among the goals a bit more this year.

"There is a lot of interchanging throughout the positions, which gives defenders problems because they come across a different player. It's a good formation.

"In the Under-17s at Southampton we played this exact formation and I seemed to do quite well on the right side. Hopefully I will fit into it quite well again.

"We have scored so many goals through a lot of different scorers so we are not just relying on one player.

"It's always nice to get on the scoresheet but it makes your job easier if you are going back into a flying Arsenal team.

"To get back into the routine of things was great and it was fantastic to be involved.

"It was just good to come off the bench and be playing in a brilliant team again.

"I haven't [set a goals target] really but I would be happy with 10 goals or more. Let's see."
