Defender Thomas Vermaelen says that Arsenal have sent out a big message to the Premier League after their thumping 6-2 win over Blackburn Rovers.
The Belgian international was partly to blame for allowing the opposition to score within five minutes of the match starting, but made up for his errors with a sizzling 30-yard equaliser.
However, our £10 million signing from Ajax, famously dubbed the 'Verminator' by many Arsenal fans, said that it was a bit disappointing for the defence to be conceding so many goals and chances in a match.
Vermaelen said: "To win a match 6-2 is a big message. Now we just have to continue. In the end it was a great result, but if you analyse the match, in the first half we were not so good.
"The first half was a little bit disappointing for us as a defence because we gave away too many chances and they scored two goals.
"That is something which we must improve and there are things we can work on.
"We have good spirit and want to play our own game with quick passing."
