Midfielder Abou Diaby has urged Arsenal fans to stop comparing him to former legend Patrick Vieira.
The Frenchman has drawn similarities with France's World Cup winner and Arsenal captain due to his role in defensive midfield, but Diaby seems to now relish playing in a more offensive position.
Diaby said: "He (Vieira) is a big idol for me and I learned a lot from watching him.
"The way he defends and the way he penetrates defenders to get in the box - he has been a big influence.
"People make the comparison between us because I'm tall like him but I believe our game is very different.
"He is much more aggressive than me and much stronger."
However, it is manager Arsène Wenger himself who has compared the young Frenchman to his former captain, saying earlier this season that the two 'were similar'.
Wenger said: "There are similarities with Vieira. He has the same stature and the same size. He has power through the middle of the park. He showed that with his goal and I feel he is growing at the moment."
