Wenger: We played the game our way

Manager Arsène Wenger believes that his young squad played the 'Arsenal way' when they dispatched Liverpool 2-1 in the Carling Cup last night.
Arsenal took the lead through Fran Merida, a bullet of a shot that belied the Gunners' tendencies to pass the ball into the opposition goal.
Liverpool equalised in the first half before the impressive Nicklas Bendtner scored another wonder goal to send the North London team into the next round.
Wenger said: "When you have the right mixture between experience and youth, you can not only play with young players against a team with the quality of Liverpool and overall I am very pleased.
"I believe overall it was a game of top quality with two teams who really went for it.
"You had the quality and speed of the passing, sometimes the ball was played through a very short space but at a high pace and overall you can say tonight we gave the people what they paid for and I'm very happy to say that and we had top quality in every position I must say.
"The experienced players played well, the young players played well. We had Craig Eastmond make his debut tonight in a holding role and everybody did well in every position.
"Liverpool came back to 1-1 and we still managed to win the game. That shows as well we have mental resources.
"I believe that the experience of the two centre-backs was important at vital moments of the game and of course going forward we had some good players as well up front and that made a difference.
"In the end there was very little between the two teams and of course we got the 2-1 and from then on we looked dangerous and we looked dangerous always and they did as well. But it was a very good game.
"But overall I believe that the team played in the way we want to play football and you could see that the style of play is respected and the quality was there.
"It was more of a European Cup night than a Carling Cup night, quality wise. We have seen two very, very good teams who play at the top level."
