Midfielder Samir Nasri was singled out for praise by manager Arsène Wenger after a successful return to action in last night's 2-1 win over Liverpool.
Signed as a replacement for the much-maligned Alexander Hleb, Nasri quickly became popular amongst the Gooner faithful when he scored two goals against Manchester United at the Emirates.
He broke his leg in a training ground incident this summer and was an unused substitute in the 2-2 draw against West Ham.
Wenger said: "We had great expectations for him this season, but unfortunately he got injured in the first day of the training camp and we haven't seen him since.
"But what is good for him is he is fresh, he has prepared well and he can be an important asset in the coming weeks.
"Basically I can play him where he is needed. I would say more in the defensive role, but because he can dribble he can play on the flanks.
"Nasri has pace and he can play in a role that is half a winger, a dropped winger who will come in sometimes, can go wide, so of course it has to be balanced and maybe with a striker on the other side sometimes."
When asked if the Frenchman would be available for Saturday's North London derby, Wenger added: "He has been out for a long time. He has not played a game [this season] and he managed 90 minutes tonight.
"How he will respond to that today and Friday I don't know but at least he managed to have a full game."
