Captain Francesc Fabregas has said that he disagrees with the notion that good football must be sacrificed if you want to win trophies.
Arsenal have been criticised for having too much 'flair' and not enough 'steel' to maintain a title challenge, not withstanding the fact that by the nature of our style of play the opposition will always have chances to score.
Whilst the team continue to win reviews based on their brand of football, dubbed 'Wengerball' by the Gooner faithful, the last major trophy won was in 2005 and pundits have suggested that perhaps it was time to turn down the style a little and learn to play ugly, like Chelsea.
Fabregas disagrees, saying: "I know we are capable of winning trophies, I can never accept that we must change our style to win.
"Trophies are important, but so too is the style in which you play the game.
"I disagree with the argument that good football can't win trophies.
"We are desperate to please the fans with success, but we also want to make them happy with the way we play."
