Manager Arsène Wenger did not deliver good news on the injury front at yesterday's press conference.
Nicklas Bendtner has to undergo surgery for the groin injury picked up over the weekend, but the biggest news came with Gaël Clichy, who has been sidelined for 'a few weeks'.
The Frenchman suffered a back injury and will be replaced by Kieran Gibbs. Regular deputy Armand Traore is also close to a return, so the left back position is adequately covered.
Winger Tomas Rosicky has recovered from his injury and will be in the squad to face AZ Alkmaar.
Wenger said: "Bendtner is quite seriously injured. And on top of that, we have lost Gaël Clichy with a back injury which was not expected.
"It looks like he could be out for a while. We fear a stress fracture but we will know more of that tonight. But if that is the case, he will be out for a few weeks.
"Nicklas we still do not know yet but we suspect four weeks. Rosicky will be in the squad tomorrow. He will still be short to start but he will be involved. The two goalkeepers will be Almunia, who will play, and Mannone.
"Armand Traore has been injured but he is back in normal training on Thursday so he will be the solution as left back cover. Fortunately at this club, we are gifted always with very good left backs."
