Defender Thomas Vermaelen has admitted that it was an 'easy decision' to make when Arsenal made an offer to sign him.
The Belgian captain (also former captain of Ajax), has been our only high-profile signing of the summer but has quickly become a fan favourite.
Dubbed 'The Verminator' by fans, he has quickly endeared himself to the Emirates faithful with his no-nonsense approach to defending. It also helps that for a time, the Belgian was also the club's leading goalscorer.
The 22-year-old also said that playing in the Premier League was a big challenge for him, and that the team are confident ahead of their weekend fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Vermaelen took the opportunity to also remind fans that the two defeats this season to both teams in Manchester came from games that could have been won, so it was important to remember that.
He said: "Both games we could win. We have to realise that and be confident.
"In the Premier League there are no easy games, especially away games. Maybe we were underestimated.
"A lot of people were talking about Arsenal not being good enough to be at the top, but we have done well so far in the Premier League and Champions League and we have to keep going because there are a lot of games to play.
"We have some big games coming up including Chelsea. If we have a good result there, then it will be very big for us.
"For me it is good to play in a good team. If you play with good players you feel confident. That is very important for a football player.
"It is not easy to join some clubs but Arsenal is an easy decision. Everyone has to realise if it is going well, it is difficult to keep focused. It is important to stay focused.
"That is the most difficult thing in football: to be consistent. I hope we can continue."
