Defender Thomas Vermaelen has said that Arsenal have sent out a clear message to the rest of the Premiership that they have every intent of challenging for the title this season.
We are currently second in the rankings, 5 points behind leaders Chelsea but have a game in hand, and are due to play the Blues later this month.
Experts and pundits alike wrote Arsenal off at the start of the season and many even predicted that we would drop out of the top four.
But Vermaelen says that Arsenal's current position in the table has sent out a warning to the rest of the Premiership that we are indeed challenging for the title this season.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online, Vermaelen said: "If we look at the rankings, we are second and it is a message to other teams that we are involved in the race to be champions.
"It is good that we have had a good series of games, it is important to continue and stay focused on every game because there are a lot of important games."
Meanwhile, striker Nicklas Bendtner is expected to be out for a longer period of time as he undergoes surgery.
Speaking after winning the Danish Player of the Year award, Bendtner said: "I will have an examination on Tuesday and then go on to have surgery on Wednesday."
