Striker Robin van Persie says that he has a different style of play from the likes of Dider Drogba and Fernando Torres. The Dutchman is understandably receiving comparisons from other top strikers as he climbs up the scoring charts this season.
Torres currently leads the Premier League's scoring charts with 10 goals, followed by Drogba with 9. van Persie has 7 league goals but has 7 assists to his name.
The 26-year-old has been deployed as the spearhead in a three-pronged attack this season by the manager, but he admits that his role is still very much both a target man and a shadow striker.
van Persie said: "I don't see myself as a true out-and-out striker. Guys likes Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba, they are real killers.
"I feel I play between a target striker and a supporting striker. I am a combination of both.
"In the league I have now contributed seven assists and I am just as proud of these as the seven goals I have scored.
"I find it crucial to be effective in both spheres for the team."
