After a busy week, with the injuries mounting up, our 3-0 win over Hull yesterday can be considered a good 3 points, but we will need to make easy work of teams like that more often.

It was also made more satisfying with Man Utd's 3-0 defeat at Fulham earlier in the day. After our game, Wenger shared his thoughts on the result and the overall situation in the league this year.

"It shows first of all that everybody can lose everywhere," he said. "And that is new; the first season since I'm here that it's really like that.

"Secondly, the most consistent team will at the end of the day make it."

It does seem like we have a stronger league than ever this year, partially due to United and Liverpool degressing from last season, but as well as focusing on the title race, Arsenal really have to look over their shoulders at Aston Villa, Man City and maybe-but-probably-not Spurs.

Villa at the Emirates next week is huge. They've won 4 league games in a row without conceding a goal, impressively winning at Old Trafford and Sunderland along the way, and they haven't lost to us at our new home yet.

We're at the half way point in the season and this game should give us a decent indication of where we're going. Lose or draw and we'll probably be looking at a fight with teams like Villa for 3rd or 4th.

And of course we'd be handing out an invitation to "come and get us" to Man City, now with a proper manager following the sacking of Mark Hughes and swift snapping up of Roberto Mancini. Good luck to him, though, seeing City's defence makes me almost grateful for our lot at the back.

Anyway, if we beat Villa I do really feel like it would be criminal if we didn't at least finish above Man Utd. They have not really got going yet this season, and it's hard to see how they will, even though they always seem to find a way. The fact that they are where they are through mostly unconvincing wins says a lot. They have that edge of experience over us.

As Wenger says, the most consistent team will make it. We've been far from consistent so far. Are we going to be able to conquer this evermore unpredictable league?

I think we'll have a better idea by the end of this week.
