Manager Arsène Wenger has heaped praise on defender Thomas Vermaelen, saying that the Belgian captain goes about his business on the pitch in a 'determined' manner.
Vermaelen, who was captain at Ajax and moved to Arsenal in the summer, has enjoyed a rich vein of form and was given the Belgian captaincy.
Affectionately dubbed the 'Verminator', the central defender has formed a good partnership with William Gallas and also scored some vital goals for the team.
Wenger said: "Thomas is a very quiet boy, but very determined.
"I believe you see in every ball he plays. He is a good mixer with commitment and relaxed focus.
"That is very important when you play at the back, that you never panic, because panic is something which is contagious and he always looks to master that."
