Former striker Dennis Bergkamp has said that manager Arsène Wenger is quick to spot deteriorating performances from his players, especially those who are aged over 30.
Fans are constantly wondering whether the club's policy of not offering more than one year extensions to the contracts of players who are over 30 is right.
Bergkamp, whom a few years ago had to be content with one year extensions to his own contract, explained why Wenger has the view he has with his more senior players.
The 'Iceman' said: "You know what it's like with Wenger when you are over 30 as a player.
"He will give you less and less time on the pitch. If you moan, he will show you the stats. He will tell you: "Your sprints are not very frequent any more, your sprints are not very long"."
However, despite players not always agreeing with Wenger on his stats, Bergkamp maintains that the two always got along well.
He added: "I would take him on. I would ask him where he had written down the stats of final, decisive passes in the box.
"We were always on good terms."
