Wenger: van Persie progressing well

Some good news on the injury front, as the manager confirms that striker Robin van Persie is progressing well in his recovery from ankle surgery.

van Persie suffered ligament damage whilst he was playing in a friendly for Italy in November. He was ruled out for six months, effectively till the end of the season.

Wenger said: "He has come back [to the training ground] and is doing as well as you can at that stage.

"He is out of his boot and walks normally but he thinks he will be playing mid-April."

The club are currently seeking compensation over the injury suffered by van Persie, but there has been no update on that front as Arsenal continue to make enquiries into whether it's actually possible.

Wenger said: "There is nothing there, we are a little bit in no-man's land at the moment.

"Why? Because for the [international] friendlies it is very difficult to get anywhere.

"We are still in enquiry [at the moment]."
