Luck is always a big part of any title winning side, in recent seasons luck hasn't gone for us and when you look at our injury list this term you could argue it still hasn't. However in when you look at some of the goals we've scored in the past few games and some of the decisions that have been given or not in some cases I think lady luck is an Arsenal fan this season.

The immortal line is 'luck evens itself out over the season,' well that just clearly isn't true, some teams will have the better luck over a season and some will not. I think it's fair to say in recent seasons we've been on the wrong side of this luck but in this potentially successful season is it any coincidence that luck might finally be turning in our favour?

I'm thinking in particular of the games against Everton and then of course the comeback of the season against Bolton. What happened against Everton could arguably be as important a comeback as the Bolton game, the point gained there kept us within touching distance of the top and kept the unbeaten run going and consequently the momentum, which has now taken us top.

But we wouldn't have gotten anything against Everton had it not been for two deflected goals and there is the luck that I am talking about. Rosicky's last minute deflecting over Howard and giving us that vital point is just one example of the luck that has kept us in the title race, not to mention our first equaliser from Denilson also being deflected.

Then you look at the Bolton game, it was of course a tremendous effort by all the players to fight back and get that two goal victory margin that we needed but once again luck played its part. The most obvious piece of luck is the Gallas tackle, while clearly bad luck on Bolton, the fact that, one it wasn't given as a foul and two, everyone played on, is so very fortunate but also utterly deserved after the second half display.

The fourth and table topping goal was also slightly fortunate, just in the fact the ball bounced in the right direction and eventually fell to Arshavin who scored. While the build up was as per usual neat, quick and complex it got a deflection into the path of Arshavin and I think a bounce or two which eventually enabled Arshavin to control and smash past Jussi Jaaskelainen.

This is not me deriding anything that Arsenal have achieved this season, this is actually me saying that it is such a good sign that luck is going our way that it feels like it could be a special season. Obviously you can't have everything going for you, and that is where the injuries come into play, although with Walcott and Bendtner back soon, things may be easing, but currently that is the only downside to our season so far.

Hopefully this run of luck will continue through to the end of the season or at least until our very difficult run of upcoming games is out the way, which by the way will be what gives or takes the title away from us. Just quickly on the transfer window, time is running out and I still feel it is imperative that we sign or even get a loan for a striker or maybe a midfielder.

As I said in my last piece I do feel the title is there for the winning and a decent signing could just give us that boost over the finishing line and certainly be of use for the massive games coming up but am I convinced we will sign anyone? No, but there is at least hope since Wenger does still seem to be looking and is it a coincidence that Andre Pierre Gignac's Toulouse have signed a striker this window?

All I can say is that with a bit of luck (and maybe a new player?) anything could be possible this season but it sure feels good to be back at the top of the table!
