Contract talks with defender William Gallas are progressing well, according to manager Arsène Wenger who looks set to break his over-30 policy and offer his former captain a two-year contract.
Gallas has formed a strong partnership with star signing Thomas Vermaelen at the heart of the Arsenal defence, and it is this run of form that has influenced the manager to offer him more than a year as an extension.
Wenger said: "Yes, talks are going well.
"Let's keep the negotiations confidential. If we get to a conclusion, we will let you know. At the moment, I think it's better we don't talk about it.
"It is not long ago [since we last held talks], a week ago, something like that."
