Defender William Gallas has been playing through the pain barrier and has been on the verge of aggravating a number of injuries, according to manager Arsène Wenger.
The Frenchman has played every Premiership game this season and the FA Cup tie against Stoke City was a welcome break for the defender.
However, the change in personnel in defence resulted in Arsenal conceding 3 goals, one in the very first minute of the match, and consequently being knocked out the competition.
Wenger said: "You have to rotate. You cannot always play with the same XI until the end of the season. That doesn't work.
"Gallas has played all the Premier League games. Once you are in a routine, winning keeps the confidence high.
"Touch wood, until now he has been clear of injuries. But we have played him on the limit a few times where we didn't know before the game how long he would last. He always manages to get through the 90 minutes."
