Defender Philippe Senderos looks to have played his last game for the club as manager Arsène Wenger confirmed that he would not be offering the Swiss international a new contract.
However, Wenger hasn't ruled out changing his mind, and that the decision to go to Everton was really Senderos' alone. But you have to serious doubts for Senderos' future when the likes of Mikael Silvestre and Sol Campbell are being selected ahead of you for some crucial matches.
Wenger said: "No [he won't get a new contract]. And he knows that.
"He is out of contract at the end of the season so he will go where he wants to go.
"He has only gone on loan. I wanted to give him an opportunity to play and he has chosen Everton. Let's hope he gets the games."
The only thought on Senderos' mind at the moment seems to be to secure regular first team football, and who can blame him when you have a World Cup coming up.
Upon joining Everton, he said: "I can't wait to get stuck in and play for Everton. Hopefully, I can get some first-team football.
"I am here with high hopes and hopefully I can fulfil them.
"I have spoken to [Everton manager] David Moyes and he hopes to give me opportunities here.
"Everton's form over the last few weeks has been better and they are getting stronger."
