In the wake of the 3-1 humbling to Manchester United, Cesc Fabregas says Arsenal's game against Chelsea next week is a must-win one for the club.
Personally speaking, it's a massive game for him as well. If Arsenal are well-beaten again, they will be set for another year without the Premiership title, and in all probability, without a trophy.
The Spaniard has been a one-man team for most of this season and must be tired of being let down by his average and lazy team-mates, and his unambitious and frugal manager.
On the big game at Stamford Bridge, the Arsenal captain said: "Chelsea is never a good game to have even if you are eight points clear or eight points behind.
"They know what they do and know how to play. We have to beat them to stay in the title race."
If Wenger won't buy a player this afternoon, Ivan Gazidis should go above his head and do it for him.
Wenger said this season that enough was enough, and this team has to grow up, but it hasn't. If we don't bring in reinforcements, we have no chance of beating Chelsea, and if we don't beat Chelsea we would need a miracle to get back in the title race.
This January would have been the best time to buy. By the end of the season, we could be trophyless again, and with every passing year that that happens, and more key players leave, the harder it will be to attract the big names that we need.
Wenger claims he approached Valencia about David Villa, but he wasn't available. Maybe Villa didn't want to join this sinking ship of a club and play with Denilson and Nasri. It could already be too late. If Fabregas and Arshavin leave at the end of the season it will definitely be too late.
We won't buy any players tonight. I'm kidding myself, but that's how desperate I've become.
